Too many times artist travel into an abyss. That abyss that artist are trapped in, is the abyss of the independent majority. This term is a place where independent artists are doing what their friends are doing, because it is safe and the cheapest. The hardest road travel is often the one that artist will not take, or try to take shortcuts in order to get to their desired musical career. Spending money, or investing is often the number one reason why some artist do not cross that threshold into superstardom. The professionalism, radio etiquette, interviewing skills, and branding are often neglected in lieu of “acting the part”, which can be seen weekly on Hip Hop of Atlanta, BET, VH1, or any YouTube video featuring your favorite artist.
I often find that some artist do not know how to get from point C to point H at times. The lack of education is a big problem that is apparent with artists, often by the time an artist finds out what he or she needs to know, its’ too late and will cost thousands and thousands to fix the problem. As Jay-Z once said “I will not lose, for even in defeat, There’s a valuable lesson learned, so it evens up for me”. I only advise artist during the Artist Development Stage of the process, to educate yourself on every possible generic scenario. That way you will be more equipped and have a better chance for survival. Words to live by, ““You are the master of your destiny. You can influence, direct and control your own environment. You can make your life what you want it to be.” – Napoleon Hill.
